Find answers to common questions about Homi

Homi is your all-in-one home and vehicle management assistant. It helps you track maintenance tasks, log service history, store important documents, monitor expenses, find local service providers, and stay on top of upcoming reminders — all in one beautifully designed app.

After signing in with Google or Apple, Homi walks you through a quick onboarding:

1.Set up your profile — enter your name and phone number
2.Add your first home — enter your primary address (you can skip this)
3.Add a vehicle — enter your car details (you can skip this too)

Once onboarding is complete, you'll land on your dashboard where you can start creating tasks, logging services, and exploring all of Homi's features.

Homi lets you manage everything related to your properties and vehicles:

Homes — multiple properties with full address details
Vehicles — cars with insurance, registration, warranty tracking
Tasks — maintenance to-dos with priorities and due dates
Service Logs — history of all maintenance and repairs
Documents — insurance cards, registrations, receipts with AI extraction
Expenses — spending analytics by category, month, and year
Service Providers — find and save local pros
Notifications — smart reminders for upcoming tasks and expirations

The main dashboard has 9 swipeable tabs you can swipe between or tap to jump to:

Overview — your home screen with quick actions and upcoming items
Assets — manage your homes and vehicles
Services — find local service providers
Tasks — your maintenance to-do list
Requests — AI-assisted service requests
Documents — stored files and scans
Logs — service history records
Spending — expense tracking and analytics
History — unified activity timeline

Tap your profile icon in the top-right to access Settings. Use the home selector dropdown at the top to switch between properties.

Yes! Homi is completely free to download and use. All core features — task management, service logging, document storage, expense tracking, and more — are included at no cost. We may introduce optional premium features in the future, but the core experience will always remain free.

Homi is currently available on iOS (iPhone). We're focused on delivering the best possible iPhone experience first. Support for iPad and other platforms may come in the future.

Homi supports two sign-in methods:

Sign in with Google — uses your Google account
Sign in with Apple — uses your Apple ID

Your account is automatically created on first sign-in. All your data is tied to your sign-in method, so always use the same one to access your information.

Homi requires an internet connection to sync your data securely. You can view previously loaded data while offline, but creating or editing items requires connectivity. Any changes will sync automatically when you reconnect.

Go to Settings > Help & Support > Feedback to send us a message directly. You can describe any issues, suggest features, or share your experience. We read every piece of feedback and use it to improve Homi.

Go to Settings and tap on your profile card at the top, or select Edit Profile. You can update your first and last name, email address, phone number, and profile picture. Changes are saved automatically.

To add a property:

1.Go to the Assets tab
2.Tap Add Property or navigate to Settings > Address Management
3.Enter a label (e.g., "Home", "Vacation House")
4.Fill in the full address details
5.Optionally set it as your default property

You can add as many properties as you need — vacation homes, rental properties, or your primary residence.

Absolutely! Homi supports unlimited properties. Use the home selector dropdown at the top of your dashboard to switch between them. Each property has its own tasks, service logs, documents, and expense tracking. You can set one property as your default so it loads automatically when you open the app.

Go to Settings > Address Management to see all your properties. Tap on a property to edit its details (label, address, default status). To delete a property, use the delete option on that screen.

Your default property is the one that loads automatically when you open Homi. It determines which tasks, logs, and data you see on the dashboard by default. You can change your default property anytime in Settings > Address Management.

To add a vehicle:

1.Go to the Assets tab
2.Tap Add Vehicle
3.Enter the year, make, and model
4.Optionally add trim, VIN, license plate, and color
5.Add insurance, registration, and warranty details with expiration dates
6.Set the current mileage

You can track as many vehicles as you need.

Yes! Add as many vehicles as you need. Each vehicle has its own service log history, tasks, documents, and expense tracking. Switch between vehicles using the vehicle selector on relevant screens. You can mark one vehicle as your primary for quick access.

When you add a vehicle, you can set its current mileage. Each time you create an auto service log, you can enter the mileage at the time of service. This builds a mileage history over time. Homi can use this data to remind you when mileage-based maintenance is due (like oil changes every 5,000 miles).

When adding or editing a vehicle, you can enter:

Insurance — provider name, policy number, and expiration date
Registration — expiration date
Warranty — expiration date

Homi automatically tracks these dates and shows status indicators (valid, expiring soon, or expired). You'll receive notification reminders 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before each expiration.

Go to the Assets tab and select a vehicle. You can archive a vehicle you no longer own — this hides it from your active list while preserving all its service history and data. Archived vehicles can be restored at any time. You can also permanently delete a vehicle if you prefer.

There are several ways to create a task:

1.Quick Add — tap the floating + button on the Overview dashboard and select "New Task"
2.Tasks Tab — go to the Tasks tab and tap the floating button
3.Voice Input — use the voice option to describe your task and Homi will parse it automatically

Fill in the title, set a due date, choose a priority (low, medium, high, urgent), select a service type, and optionally add cost estimates and notes.

Recurring tasks repeat automatically on a schedule you choose:

Weekly / Biweekly
Monthly / Quarterly
Semi-annually / Annually
Custom intervals

Great for regular maintenance like HVAC filter changes, lawn care, oil changes, or gutter cleaning. When you complete a recurring task, the next occurrence is created automatically.

Tasks have four priority levels:

Urgent — needs immediate attention
High — should be done soon
Medium — normal priority
Low — can wait

Tasks are grouped by priority on the Tasks tab, making it easy to focus on what's most important. Priority also affects notification urgency.

To complete a task, swipe right on it in the list or tap into the task and mark it as done. Completed tasks move to the "Completed" filter view.

To delete a task, swipe left on it or use the delete option in the task editor. Deleted tasks are permanently removed.

You can also filter tasks by status: All, To Do, Completed, or Overdue.

Yes! When you complete a task, you can create a service log entry directly from it. This connects the task to its service record, building a complete maintenance history.

Homi includes 15 service type categories for home tasks: HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Roofing, Landscaping, Cleaning, Pest Control, Painting, Flooring, Appliance Repair, Security, General Maintenance, and more.

For auto tasks, service types include Oil Change, Tires, Brakes, Engine, Transmission, and other vehicle-specific categories. Each type has its own icon and color for easy identification.

To create a service log entry:

1.Tap the + button on the Overview and select "New Home Log" or "New Auto Log"
2.Choose your entry method: Scan a receipt (camera with OCR auto-extraction) or Manual entry
3.Select the service type, enter the date, provider name, and cost
4.Add notes and attach photos or documents
5.Save your entry

For auto logs, you can also record the mileage at the time of service.

Yes! When creating a new log entry, choose Scan Receipt. Point your camera at the receipt and Homi uses OCR (optical character recognition) to automatically extract the service type, date, provider, and cost. Review the extracted data, make any corrections, and save.

When creating or editing a log entry, scroll to the Attachments section. You can take a photo with your camera, choose from your library, or attach PDFs from your files. Multiple files per entry are supported.

When entering the company name in a log entry, Homi can link it to a Google Places listing. This gives you quick access to the provider's phone number, address, reviews, and hours directly from your log entry.

Go to the Logs tab to see your complete service history. Entries are grouped by year and sorted by date. Each entry shows the service type, provider, cost, and date. Tap any entry to see full details including notes, attachments, and linked provider information.

Go to the Documents tab and tap the add button. You can scan with your camera or upload an image/PDF from your device. After uploading, set the document type, add a title, and optionally link it to a specific property or vehicle. Homi will automatically attempt to extract key data using AI.

Homi supports various document types: property documents (deeds, inspection reports), insurance policies, vehicle documents (registration, title, warranty papers), maintenance records (receipts, invoices), and general documents. Both images and PDF files are supported, including multi-page documents.

When you upload a document, Homi's AI automatically attempts to extract key information using OCR. This can include dates, amounts, provider names, policy numbers, and other relevant data. The extraction runs in the background and shows a confidence score when complete.

When adding a document (like an insurance card or registration), you can set an expiration date. Homi tracks these and shows status indicators: Active, Expiring Soon, or Expired. You'll also receive notifications before documents expire.

Yes! Documents can be linked to home or auto log entries. This is useful for connecting a receipt or invoice to its corresponding service record. Linked documents appear in both detail views.

Homi automatically aggregates costs from your service logs and bookings to build spending analytics. Every time you log a service with a cost, it's included in your spending overview. No extra step needed.

The Spending tab offers three views:

Monthly — expenses for a single month with category breakdown
Yearly — total spending for the year with monthly trends
All Time — your complete spending history

Use the navigation arrows to move between months or years.

Yes! The Spending tab breaks down your expenses by service category (HVAC, Plumbing, Oil Change, etc.). This helps you see where most of your money goes with visual breakdowns.

Go to the Services tab and select a service category (plumber, electrician, HVAC, etc.). Homi searches for nearby providers using Google Places based on your property's location. You'll see ratings, reviews, business hours, distance, and contact information.

When searching for providers, tap the filter icon to refine results by distance, rating (minimum stars), and whether they're currently open.

When viewing a provider's details, tap the heart/favorite icon to save them. Access your saved providers anytime from the Favorites tab within the Services section.

Service requests let you describe a problem using text or voice, and Homi's AI will parse your description to identify the service category and urgency, triage the request with a summary and estimated cost range, and track it through status stages: submitted, reviewing, provider matched, scheduled, and completed.

The floating + button on the Overview dashboard gives you quick access to create a new Home Task, Auto Task, Home Service Log, Auto Service Log, Booking, or Service Request. This is the fastest way to add anything in Homi.

Yes! Swipe right on a task to mark it complete, swipe left on a task or log entry to delete it, swipe between tabs on the dashboard to navigate, and pull down on any list to refresh the data.

Several features support voice input: task creation (describe your task and Homi's AI parses it), service requests (describe what you need fixed), and service search (tell Homi what service you're looking for).

Go to Settings > Notifications to customize: set your preferred reminder time, enable overdue task alerts, turn on expiration warnings for insurance/registration/warranty (30, 7, and 1 day before), and enable booking reminders.

Homi can sync your tasks, bookings, and service requests to Google Calendar. Go to the Calendar view, connect your Google account, select which calendar to sync with, and enable sync for the item types you want.

Demo Mode lets you explore Homi with sample data without affecting your real account. Enable it from Settings with the Demo Mode toggle. A banner shows when active. Disable it anytime to return to your real data.

If your data seems missing:

1.Check your internet connection — Homi requires connectivity
2.Pull down to refresh on any screen
3.Check the home selector — you might be viewing a different property
4.Check filters — make sure you're not filtering out items
5.Try signing out and back in from Settings

If the issue persists, contact support through the Feedback option.

If notifications aren't working:

1.Check that notifications are enabled in Homi Settings > Notifications
2.Check your iOS Settings > Homi > Notifications and ensure they're allowed
3.Make sure the specific notification types you want are toggled on
4.Verify your preferred reminder time is set correctly

Notifications require both app-level and system-level permissions.

A session expired message means your authentication token has timed out for security reasons. Simply tap the refresh or sign-in button to re-authenticate. Your data is safe.

Ensure good lighting when scanning, hold your device steady with text in focus, try a different angle to avoid shadows and glare, and make sure the document has legible text. You can always manually enter details if automatic extraction doesn't work.

1.Force close and reopen the app
2.Check your internet connection
3.Update to the latest version from the App Store
4.Restart your device

If you consistently experience issues, please send feedback through Settings.

Your data is stored securely using Supabase with encryption both in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Authentication is handled through Google or Apple's secure OAuth systems — Homi never stores your password. All data access is scoped to your account with row-level security policies.

No. We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties. Your information is used solely to provide the Homi service to you.

Go to Settings > Data & Storage > Export My Data to download a complete file of all your information including properties, vehicles, tasks, service logs, documents metadata, and expense data.

Go to Settings, scroll to the bottom, and tap Delete Account. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. It removes your profile, all properties and vehicles, all tasks, logs, documents, and all expense data. Make sure to export your data first if you want to keep a copy.
